Everybody Street feature documentary

Director: Cheryl Dunn.

Everybody Street is an acclaimed Hollywood-produced feature documentary, which explores the lives and work of iconic New York City street photographers, during some of the most colourful and illuminating periods in The Five Borough's history.

What We Did

Felt were asked to supervise the music selection for the film in its entirety. This included extensive music research and then clearing usage rights for an authentic and varied selection of music that accurately depicted seven decades of life in New York City.

The Brief

The film had suffered a last minute setback when the publishing rights holders for the original music choices, rejected the director’s licence requests.  Felt were called urgently and tasked with replacing all of the existing music with authentic alternatives.  The music would then need to be cleared for use and skilfully edited to picture, in time for the film’s major festival release in just a matter of a few weeks. Crucially, we needed to uncover music that was as thrilling to the director as the iconic tracks that she had originally chosen and had by now, completely fallen in love with.

How We Did It

Combining Felt’s range of resources, we delved deep into our own library and called upon our network of represented major and indie label catalogues to widen the search. Our publishing representative successfully negotiated the usage rights to essential music including iconic tracks by The Beastie Boys and Sonic Youth, with a very limited budget. Our close ties with industry heavyweights, with rare and Era-defining record collections, unearthed some exciting gems which added originality and authenticity to our final selection. Finally, working to the tightest deadline, we edited the shortlisted tracks to every down beat, cue point and frame change of the 90-minute feature film.

The Result

We provided all the music for Everybody Street within the timescale set. When our clients were in a predicament, we quickly raised their hopes. The results far exceeded the expectations of the budget. Everybody Street was screened as part of the Raindance Film Festival Official Selection of 2013.
